| 1) Own Label Producer requires Reel-Fed Paper for one of its customers Webtech facilitated a well known own brand label manufacturer in transferring business from one of their facilities to another by developing the first Reel-Fed paper substrate to be printed and applied in the UK. Background: Customer required production to be moved from one plant to another however they encountered a problem with labelling the product: Their original plant was using cut & stack paper whereas their secondary plant only could utilise Reel-Fed plastic however their customer requirement at this particular time was paper which is very unusual in Reel-Fed. Method: Webtech contacted one of the leading paper producers in Europe to assist in looking at the possibility of producing a substrate suitable for Reel-Fed application. Initial trials were not conclusive as there were issues with COB strength and glue application. We also then spoke to the adhesive company to assist with the issue at hand. Result: We were able to overcome several issues by working as a partnership with our customers and other external suppliers to produce a successful outcome of Reel-Fed paper. Intern this allowed our customer to transfer further products to this facility and grow their business with their customer. 2) Customers looking to move from Cut & Stack paper to Reel-Fed OPP Throughout the last 5 years Webtech have successfully moved several customers from paper to plastic. This has involved Webtech working closely with all the leading machine manufacturers of Reel-Fed labellers to develop high speed application on their production facilities. In addition to efficiency savings and up to 80% savings on glue costs, the labels are also inert to moisture and resolve the issue of mould and label splitting. The win win in this application is also the various marketing options that are available: White, Metallic & Clear material options are available. Also in the offering are higher definition graphics, promotional opportunities such as coding and printing on the reverse of labels. Efficiencies in production are also gained by reducing the man power needed in stocking cut and stack paper labels into a magazine. OPP labels can come in reels of up to 25,000 thus reducing the changeover times. Webtech assist in every step of the way through utilising their extensive knowledge of not only the printing industry but of the application machinery while constantly reviewing the latest advances and improvements on the market. 3) Ink Adhesion Problems Background: A large international juice company approached Webtech as they were experiencing ink adhesion problems with their current supply base.The problem was identified as an ink lift due to secondary packaging processes at the bottling plant. Method: Webtech in conjunction with their in-house ink suppliers were able to use an innovative ink technology to deliver scratch resistant labels. This process has now been implemented into all our printing procedures to deliver the highest quality labels to all our customers.
